Position Overview:
As a Senior Art Director at Galen College of Nursing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the visual identity of Galen College of Nursing, leading the internal design team and working with agency partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compelling visual content that aligns with and elevates our brand. In collaboration with the Creative Director, VP Marketing & Communications and other key stakeholders you will help proactively guide the management of the Galen brand and the evolution of a growing institution. This role leads visual creative projects, guiding teams to develop high-impact campaigns by defining art direction, presenting concepts, managing budgets/timelines, collaborating with stakeholders and cross-departmentally, ensuring brand consistency, and overseeing production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the design team, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers, ensuring high standards of design excellence.
- Develop and implement innovative design strategies that support Galen College of Nursing’s brand and marketing objectives.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director and other stakeholders to define visual direction and maintain brand consistency across all projects.
- Collaborate with the Content Marketing Manager and Director of Communications to create compelling and engaging multi-media content.
- Work closely with Galen’s agency of record and various third-party photographers, videographers, and other creatives to produce cohesive and impactful campaigns.
- Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Coordinate cross-departmentally to understand project requirements and deliver creative solutions.
- Create compelling visual content for a variety of mediums and platforms, including digital, print, social media, and video.
- Oversee the production of marketing materials and campus support, ensuring quality control and brand consistency.
- Stay updated on design trends, tools, and technologies, integrating them into the creative process as appropriate.
- Present design concepts to senior leadership and stakeholders, effectively communicating the creative vision and rationale.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in graphic design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in developing and executing successful design strategies in a higher education or healthcare setting is a plus.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design styles, mediums, and projects, as well as an ability to execute (and direct others to execute) brand system standards across the spectrum of marketing mediums.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects) and other relevant design software.
- Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in an agile work environment.
