The purpose of the Healthcare and Professional Programs Director at Central Carolina Community College, in addition to teaching, is the administration of all the programs in the department. This is accomplished through continuous evaluation and revision of course objectives, course outlines, course competencies, course descriptions, teaching strategies, in the specific curriculum to ascertain that they are appropriate and relevant as well as the management of personnel and resources.

May be required to teach at any college location within the College’s three-county service area. Some in-state or out-of-state travel related to discipline specific training could be required. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. Please include unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Will be required to submit official copies of transcripts before start date. This position requires face to face teaching.
Essential Duties
Provide strategic leadership and supervision for all instructional personnel and program areas within Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) Health Programs. Ensure program compliance with state, national, and industry accreditation standards, including the development and assessment of program and student learning outcomes. Direct curriculum development by assessing community needs and labor market demands to renew, design, and implement relevant health courses. Oversee departmental operations, including the determination of course schedules, faculty assignments across all campuses, and the design of registration/retention plans. Manage the departmental budget, including the selection, procurement, and annual inventory of all equipment, materials, and supplies. Lead the full-cycle recruitment and selection process for department personnel, ensuring all faculty meet required credentialing standards. Manage the onboarding and lifecycle of part-time faculty, including contract preparation, orientation, resource distribution, and the documentation of emergency credential justifications. Supervise and evaluate instructional staff through regular performance appraisals, review of student evaluations, and monitoring of instructor competency. Facilitate professional development, ensuring faculty maintain current industry knowledge, skills, and credentials as demanded by the job market and credentialing entities. Maintain meticulous departmental records, including course files, student participation data, and attendance, ensuring all personnel adhere to the College’s policy and procedures manual. Coordinate instructional logistics, such as textbook selection/ordering, faculty office hours, and coverage arrangements for faculty absences. Ensure consistent quality of instruction and student advising systems across all campuses and delivery methods. Organize and lead an active Departmental Advisory Board, conducting at least one meeting per year to align programs with industry standards. Maintain professional liaison with business, industry, and professional agencies relevant to health programs. Engage in College governance by serving on committees and completing personal staff development requirements Participate in annual college-wide professional development as determined by the President, and complete additional department-specific training as identified in the annual Performance Appraisal and Development Plan. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the College. Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related discipline, AND Two years working and/or supervising in healthcare environment
