Description
The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing (Nese CON) seeks applicants for the non-tenure line faculty position of Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs. This is a full-time, 48-week appointment with full benefits; salary will be commensurate with rank and experience, and the location is University Park, PA preferred. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025.
The position’s overarching goal is to facilitate the success of and to support undergraduate academic programs and teaching faculty. The position requires an individual with excellent administrative and leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and an understanding of the pedagogy of nursing education. This individual will interact with campus assistant deans, directors/chairs, faculty, and university/campus/regional administrators to assure curricular integrity and quality and provide strategic direction and support for new academic initiatives. The successful candidate will report to the Nese CON Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education.
Primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Oversight of undergraduate academic programs to ensure integrity, quality and program outcomes are being met.
- Participating in the development, implementation, and assessment of the academic program curricula
- Provide leadership in piloting new academic program initiatives
- Oversee the undergraduate certificate process.
- Oversee the quality of didactic and experiential learning activities of the academic programs including clinical facility contractual agreement.
- Oversee the review of course substitution requests for all undergraduate program options to ensure academic program consistency.
- Provide guidance and mentoring of faculty in implementing best practice instructional methodologies that support students attaining program learning outcomes.
- Work closely with the deans and campus directors/chairs.
- Communicate with the college deans, university, and campus administrators about the undergraduate academic programs.
- Assist in recruiting, retaining, and evaluating faculty and staff who meet the needs of the academic programs.
- Assist college deans with gathering information requested annually for the CIC, AACN, NLN, and other benchmarking reports.

- Represent the Nese CON at regional and national meetings concerned with undergraduate nursing education.
- Assist in planning a yearly orientation for new faculty members in conjunction with the deans.

Requirements
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Earned doctoral degree (DNP, EdD, PhD)
- A valid nursing license and be eligible to apply for an RN license from the state of Pennsylvania
- Demonstrated experience in academic program administration/management
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with a non-tenured faculty line appointment
- Capacity for formative and summative faculty reviews.
