Job Summary
- Assess and evaluates the patient's condition, initiate emergency measures as necessary, and intervenes appropriately in crisis situations.
- Provides independent professional care through the application of standing orders.
- Takes vital signs including blood pressure, pain evaluation, expiratory peak flow measurement, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, weight, pulse oximetry.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintains personal and patients` safety with attention to blood borne pathogens, sterility, respirator use and fit testing, negative pressure exam room utilization, psychological distress, and contagious diseases
- Administers medications orally, by injection and intravenously, changes dressings, and obtains laboratory specimens of potentially infectious material.
- Analyzes data and records analysis and data into electronic medical record (EMR).
- Sets up and assist providers with medical examinations, treatments and surgical procedures.
- Educates patients about their diagnosis, contagion, self-care, follow-up, physical and psychological needs.
- Directs and guides Medical Assistants (MA) in their tasks.
- Oversees and insures the proper use, care and control of medical equipment and medications.
- Assists nursing administration in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
Preferred
- 3 years nursing experience with 1 or more years outpatient nursing
- 1 year as an RN in an outpatient or specialty setting
Required
- Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana Upon Date of Hire

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
